THE LOGGIA DEI CAVALIERI (KNIGHTS’ LOGGIA), Via Martiri della Libertà - Treviso |
|
The Loggia dei Cavalieri (Knights’ Loggia) was damaged by the wear and tear of time and by the airstrikes of
the First and of the Second World War, as many other houses of the old Treviso centre. |
|
It was restored several times, the last one of these is
just ended and thus it is possible to see it in its beauty today. A frescoed frieze, located externally
under the eaves, is visible and its pictures draw inspiration from the deeds of the Knights Round
Table carrying the Conte di Collalto (Collalto Earl)’s badge |

He commanded Treviso in the Middle Ages and
his blazon, portraying the town and three towers protected by the Walls, is located just under
the portion of the roof sticking out.

There is another inside frescoed frieze placed in the same height;
here the pictures follow Troy War. These frescoes have been partly restored and they have been partly reconstructed
following the drawings done when the Loggia was still well-preserved. |
