Both fifteenth-century houses have a colonnade with five pointed
arches and in the first floor they have some balconies and trefoil
double lancet windows decorated all around by frescoes and mock
upholstery.
Casa da Noal and Casa Robegan are one of the most interesting examples
of the late Venetian Gothic in Treviso.
Casa da Noal underwent some transformations and some restorations
in the course of its history, they weren't always precise unfortunately
and thus its original look was changed partly; it was restored by
capable philological restoration of Mario Botter in 1938. |
|
|
Since then
Casa da Noal had been exploited as place of collections of the less
weighty objects, as well as seat of " Museum of Trevisan House
". |
|
|
During the Second World War Treviso was damaged by bombing
raids heavily and also Casa da Noal was half-destroyed,
with the collections contained in it, in 1944.
Only when the war ended, another restoration by Mr. Botter
made possible its reconstruction.
Today we may note presence of the small " Keys House
" in the garden at the back: it is a Gothic building
which was taken from another place always in Via Canova. |
